Congratulations to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, Gainesville, Florida, our 6/1/24 Biannual Headset System Giveaway award winner. The winning entry was sent by Chief Richard Shirk.

“Due to this truck having no AC, we respond to 95% of all calls wit the windows down because of high temperatures. This creates issues with communication between the driver and officer from excessive wind, engine, and siren noise which also has concerns to possible permanent hearing issues with staff. Any personnel riding in the rear jump seats of the engine have no way of hearing the radio or communication between the front seat passemgers. The David Clark Headset System will help prevent unnecessary risk to fierfighter hearing loss, but also allow our staff to communicate assignments and tasks prior to arriving on scene, thus cutting down on time and miscommunication and allowing a faster delivery of service in time of need.”

The Headset Communication System will be designed and configured for the apparatus by David Clark Company. System installation will be provided at no charge to the department, courtesy of MCA, Mobile Communisations America, Jacksonville, FL.
